I'm Denise — an artist, and a gundog person through and through.

I trained as a graphic designer, and it's a discipline that still shapes everything I make: a love of clean line, bold colour and repetition, brought to the animals and birds I've spent my life around. But I don't just draw this world — I live in it.

My real love is working HPRs. I show my German Shorthaired Pointer, Vader — who's gained his Stud Book number — and I've been closely involved in the field-trial world for years, including as field trial secretary for the Norfolk and Suffolk HPR Field Trial Club. (There are Labradors too, though they'd tell you they're strictly pets.) When I made a set of commemorative pieces for the England HPR Home International team, it mattered to me because these are my people, and my dogs.

That's what I hope you feel in the work: not a picture of a gundog or a game bird, but something made by someone who knows how a pointer moves and how a grouse sits on the moor.

My work runs from the contemporary cut-card Poster Series through to limited editions in the Colourful Series — and I love taking on commissions of a favourite dog or bird. If you have something in mind, do get in touch; I'd be glad to talk it through.
