The Horse in Motion | Relief sculpture, limited edition of 10

Nine horses, mid-stride, arranged in a circle so the whole piece reads as motion. Hang it in portrait or landscape — either way, the eye keeps moving around the composition, one horse leading to the next.

The circular composition is a small quiet nod to Eadweard Muybridge's 1878 photographic study of a galloping horse — the sequence of images that first proved a horse in full gallop lifts all four hooves off the ground. This is a much more colourful, much less scientific version of that same idea.

Each horse is drawn by hand, precision-cut, and painted in a bespoke palette of jewel tones and earthy ochres, then raised 5mm from the mounting board in a floating relief.

The edition
