The Red Grouse | A1 relief sculpture, limited edition of 10
The most British of birds. The one on the whisky bottle, the one on the moor, the one every August in every shooting party's conversation. This piece takes the red grouse — that stout, fast-flying, unmistakable silhouette — and repeats it across an A1 field in a colour palette that says as much about contemporary art as it does about the Twelfth.
I made this piece because I love it. The grouse is the bird I keep coming back to, and this is the composition of mine I'm most proud of.
Each bird is drawn by hand, precision-cut, and painted in high-gloss saturated pigments before being raised 5mm from the mounting board in a floating relief. The unglazed presentation lets the gloss of the paint do what it should — nothing dulls the colour.
The edition
Strictly limited to 10 in the A1 format. Each piece hand-signed, titled and numbered. Once the run is complete, this composition will not be reproduced.
